I don’t hate radio so much as I hate listening to the same song over and over (and over) again unless it’s a Mariah Carey tune and then all bets are off. I know -- I have lost some of the readers at the mere utterance of the venerable Miss M C but seriously, is there a limit to the amount if times you can be moved to a passionate car-singing solo at the bridge of, “We Belong Together?”
It’s all about good tunes and good times and everyone has their own idea of the best playlist in all the land that ever existed. Or something like that. Well, the fabulous news is that it’s possible to get your groove on just the way you like it with DIY Radio. Can you dig it?
Radio broadcasting as an art form is alive and well all over the web. Several online platforms empower you, the listener, to unleash your inner music program director and create the soundtrack to your life. With sites such as Shoutcast, Peercast, Blip.fm and Last.fm you can create and share playlists and screen and swap tasty picks with other peers. If you believe your musical tastes deserves the world’s ears, you can broadcast directly from your iTunes Music Library from anywhere in the world with Nicecast. If internet celeb status is what you crave, you can develop your own fan base and schedule pirate radio broadcasts on Littleradio or Killradio, both sites are great for discovering new music as well without the blah blah blah of incessant advertising. If the spoken word is where it’s at for you, the conversations are happening now, from all over the globe and covering, any subject you heart desires; simply peruse the isles at BlogTalkradio.
Am I’m feeling scattered, angry or tired or is it more jubilation? With just a few clicks of the mouse and a tip n’ tap of my fingers, I can create a playlist to match all my mood swings. Yay! DIY Radio, a gift that keeps on giving!
