There’s no shortage of creative tech talent in Portland, Oregon with a bevy of web entrepreneurs calling the city of roses home. They’re young, their imaginative and they’re ready to crush. They run the gamut from your personal email assistants, I Want Sandy, to a social recommendation engine called MyStrands, to a popular online happy hour finder called Unthirsty. Maybe after you’ve quenched your thirst at your happy hour, you’ll be inspired to create your own web comic. What?! The best part is you don’t need a smidge of artistic talent. Get ready to dance to your own Toonlet, a web-based application which allows users to create their own comic strips by picking mix and match body parts from art packs to develop unique characters for your strip. Sound better than blogging? Go on and take the Toonlet tour.
I had a blast with the program! Check out the latest adventures from Trixie & her grumpy sidekick, Scuttles McGraw.
To find out about groovy tech startups and meet some of the local talent, check out Startupalooza, an interactive forum for the Portland tech startup community.
